With Windows 10, you can ensure security for your computer by requiring users to enter their user name and password to access the login screen.

You can provide added security by requiring users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to access the sign-in screen. Additionally, you can set a screen saver wait time so you can have the peace of mind and calming Zen feeling knowing only you can gain access to your computer when you are away eating dinner or just taking a break.

  2. In the User Accounts dialog, click the User tab.
  3. Click Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

Setting screen saver wait time

You might also want to set the screen saver wait time.

To set screen saver wait time:

  1. In Search, enter Settings.
  2. Click Personalization.
  3. Click Lock Screen, then Screen saver settings to open the Screen Saver Settings dialog.
  4. Select a screen saver type from the Screen Saver menu.
  5. In the Wait text box enter a time in minutes, such as 5 or 10 minutes. I prefer 10 minutes as I don’t want to have to log in again every time I check my notes or ask a colleague a question.
  6. Ensure On resume, display logon screen is checked.
  7. Click Apply, then OK to dismiss the dialog.

So, now you should be set up to have additional levels of security for your Windows 10 account.
